DESCRIPTION OF THE 10-DAY GRAND MAROC TOUR DEPARTING FROM MARRAKECH

Guided 10 days tour from Marrakech to Desert

We go to Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, as well as Skoura, Dades, and Todra Gorges.

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH AIRPORT – MARRAKECH HOTEL:

Merzouga Sahara Tours arranges a 10-day Grand Morocco tour departing from Marrakech. Meet at the airport when your flight arrives. You will find us with a piece of paper with your name written on it in 'complete name by huge size' and waiting for you. When there are individuals waiting for their relatives and friends, you go inside. Then we'll transport you to your hotel.

DAY 2 : MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING DAY TOUR:

This day will be spent exploring in Marrakech, regarded as the "Pearl of the South" and home to the Saadian tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Garden, and the Menara Garden. We will also visit the souks and the world-famous Djemaa El Fna, which has a variety of entertainment options such as storytellers, acrobats, and snake-charmers. At Marrakech, spend the night in a Riad.

DAY 3: MARRAKECH – TIZI N’TICHKA -- OUARZAZATE - SKOURA – KELAA MGOUNA – DADES GORGES:

After breakfast, we'll go to the High Atlas through the Tizi n'Tichka pass, a route that climbs from the plains to 2260 meters above sea level, passing past little towns, small waterfalls, and the ever-changing vistas and hues of these magnificent mountains. We can stop on the pass for a refreshing mint tea and to take in the beauty before heading to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah in time for lunch. We may visit the famed Kasbah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has appeared in films such as The Gladiator, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia, The Legionary, The Sheltering Sky, and many more. will visit the hamlet of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt, and Atlas Studios, Africa's largest and most famous film studio. Then we'll go via Ouarzazate, the famed Valley of Roses, and the Dades Valley, arriving in time for sunset in the Dades Gorge, where we'll stay in a very traditional and lovely hotel.

DAY 4: TODRA GORGES - TINEJDAD - TOUROUG - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA DESERT:

Today, you walk on foot through this stunning place while enjoying the views of high rock walls (up 300 meters). From here we drive to Merzouga passing by Tinejdad, Erfoud. Having a break for lunch. Later on, you may have a stop in Erfoud to visit one of the factory of marble fossils then continue to your hotel situated on the foots of the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will visit a nomad family then we take you to the auberge. You will experience a camel ride to reach the desert camp in the middle of dunes where you will spend the night, enjoy your evening, dine under the stars and sleep in Nomad Berber tent.

DAY 5: EXCURSION AROUND MERZOUGA DESERT:

Getting up early to see the dawn and then having breakfast with your guide. You will return to your accommodation to have a hot shower and prepare for the adventure along the Erg Chebbi dunes. This journey allows you to explore the surrounding desert by visiting the following small villages: Before arriving in Khamlia, we will visit Hassi Lbied and its Oasis on the edge of the golden dunes, as well as Merzouga hamlet (the first village in the desert). We anticipate to see residents showing off their desert foxes on our approach to Khamlia. You could also come across desert reptiles and animals. In Khamlia, which was known as the village of black people who were slaves from Sudan. You will be greeted with a cup of tea (Whiskey Berber) while listening to their spiritual Gnawa music. DAY 6: MERZOUGA - MEDILT - AZROU - IFRANE – FES:

Early in the morning, take a walk through the sand dunes and see the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, roughly 50 kilometers from Merzouga. We ride the camel back to the hotel. You will take a shower and breakfast before departing for Fes. We will pass through Rissani and Ziz valleys, stopping for lunch in Medit apple village. We will continue the journey by crossing the Middle Atlas mountains and cedars forest, passing IFRANE, a winter ski resort built by the French in the 1930's to resemble a Swiss village. We will arrive in Fes in the early evening for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: FES SIGHTSEEING TOUR IN MEDINA:

Following breakfast, you will go on a guided tour of the medina, one of the world's biggest fortified towns. You will walk through small alleyways lined with fresh fruit, heaps of spices, elaborately woven Berber rugs, and many other Moroccan art pieces. You will see mosques such as the Quaraouiyine Mosque, which was founded in 859 by Fatima el Fihri, and the Andalusian Mosque, which was built in 860. Non-Muslims are not granted entry. Fountains such as the Nejjarine fountain,Medersas (Koranic schools) founded as early as the 13th century,Batha Palace, now a museum of arts and traditions,Chouwara Tanneries,Souks such as Souk Attarine, one of the liveliest in the city,Bab Boujloud with its green and blue ceramics,Mellah and the 17th century Ibn Danan synagogue, Overnight stay at Fes Riad.

DAY 8: FES - MEKNES - VOLUBILIS – CHEFCHAOUEN:

After breakfast, drive for Meknes, where one may enjoy a spectacular view of the Medina. The tour begins with a tour through the fortifications, which feature enormous gates from the seventeenth century, Berdaine Bab and Bab Khemis. We continue our exploration of the city by visiting the stables (Rua), the attics (HERI), and the Stud. For a long period, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail was the only mosque in Morocco that non-Muslims could visit. It then exits via the well-known Bab Mansour El into the enormous plaza Hedim. On the other side of the square, we will drive to the ancient Roman remains of Volubilis, where we will spend some time visiting the 2000-year-old ruins and gaining a sense of life during the Roman Empire. After we conclude our tour, we will travel to Chefchaouen and over Ouazzane to the Blue City. In Chefchaouen, spend the night.

DAY 9: CHEFCHAOUEN SIGHTSEEING - RABAT:

During our 10-day Grand Morocco tour, we see the finest of Chefchaouen, a picturesque and colorful village. Chefchaouen is one of the most beautiful cities in Morocco's northwestern region. The Spanish culture is strong in this laid-back mountain village. Then we'll take you to Rabat, where you'll spend the night in a hotel or riad.

DAY 10 : RABAT - CASABLANCA - MARRAKECH:

Today we transfer you to Casablanca or Marrakech airport. That’s the end of our Marrakech Sahara tour with Merzouga Sahara Tours.
